New Tool Unboxing & Test – Art, Woodworking

Great news, everyone! Long-time viewers will know that I am partnered
with Uneeda Enterprizes. They make fine-quality abrasives. They just sent me another care package. I am excited to see what is inside. I am going to do an unboxing for you right
now. Bubble wrap! I am so excited! Look at this bubble wrap! I love bubble wrap! I got a little thank you note from the folks
there. Ha! I got a sticker. That is fun. Oh, they sent me a t-shirt as well. Nice. I will try that on. Wear that later. Sanding pads. Foam sanding pads… for my new sander. They offered to send me a new sander to try
out as well. There is is. This is a 4×3 sander with hook and loop on
here. That is kind of spongy. It has a port for the vacuum to hook up. It has variable speed. Very cool. I look forward to trying this out. There are more goodies in the box. More abrasives. Sanding pads for the sander. More sanding pads. I am going to guess that all these sanding
pads are for this sander.

There is a different, very aggressive sandpaper
there. The blue is their Filmtek. Yellow is their Ekastorm product, which is
available on their web site for purchase. These sanding sponges are their Ekasilk Plus. Great for sanding curved surfaces. These are Ekasilk Plus as well. They are just a little bit thinner than the
other ones. Lots of abrasives for the new sander that
I am looking forward to trying out. I want to try out this sander. I wondered to myself what I could do just
to do a quick test for this video. I had this piece of walnut here. It is milled, but it is not a consistent thickness
and it has a little bit of a bow in it. I think it is a very pretty piece of wood
just in itself.

I thought I could just make an art piece out
of this. Sand off this surface, make it nice and smooth
and finish it. *BLEEP* Whoa, it made noise! There is no sandpaper on here
yet. My gosh, it is so quiet. It has three speeds. That is is slowest one. That is medium. That is fast. Wow. This is like the Porsche of sanders. I have not tried the Ekastorm before, so I
am going to try that first.

Because this surface is pretty rough– it
looks like it was cut with a bandsaw– I am going to try… start with 80 grit first. Whoop! *laughter* This sander also has a port
for the vacuum. I am not sure this is the right size for my
vacuum though. I will try it. Aw, just a little too… This port is just a little too big to fit
in there. Although, this is threaded, so obviously there
is supposed to be a threaded insert to go in there. I guess I am not hooking up my vacuum today. This piece has a little bit of a warp to it.

That is OK, because this is going to be hanging
on the wall. It is also cupped a little bit this way. It is a little bit difficult to control. It is getting pretty warm. After having a good go with this sander, I feel like I can share a few thoughts about it. First of all, it has a nice grip and switch
here. Easy to hold on to. It has three speeds. Although, to be honest, I do not know why
you would want to use the other speeds. I was just using the fastest speed. It does have dust collection. Unfortunately, I could not test it, because
my vacuum hose does not fit this. The cord is nice and long. All my other tools have like a three to six
foot cord. This one has like a ten or twelve foot cord. I did not have to use an extension cord to
use the tool.

That is certainly an advantage. Overall, it worked really well. My only complaint was that it did get pretty
hot when I was using it, but that was after about 10-15 minutes of continuous sanding. Admittedly, I was probably pressing too hard
on it. When I use my other power tools like my angle
grinder or my other random orbit sander, after a short time, my hands go numb from the vibration. That did not happen with this tool. Regular watchers will already know by now
that I have been partnered with Uneeda for a couple of years now. I really like their abrasives; really high
quality, durable, last a while. If you are interested in trying to get one
of these for yourself, head on over to uneeda.com. They are sponsoring a woodworking contest. Head on over to uneeda.com where you can get
more information. If you made it this far, thanks a lot for
watching.
