JGPERCUSSION Timpani Mallets Review&Sound Test #BERLINSERIES (English subtitles/Español subtítulos)

hello welcome my name is mrs. Rivera and I'm here to do a full review of the new timpani mallets series from JG percussion the Berlin series [Music] from the perspective of a percussionist there are so many brands of mallets to choose specially for marimba or for percussion keywords in general good from the perspective of a timpanist there are a smaller number of brands and options I've been working as a professional timpanist since 2014 and before that as a percussion student and as you know you go forward and progress and you're looking for a better sound quality I start with a couple of big fear mallets that you can find very easily at Guitar Center and I have used other brands known as innovative percussion and clever Lander even some custom made anyway what I was looking for was a professional quality mallets and that reduced more my options and the options in general so that's how I found one of the most famous mullet called Cato at the here Aikido it's Japanese and I think Timperley mullet maker his mullet are used by the well-known and great timpanist from the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra Raynard Seger's and Waylon Witzel I don't know how to pronounce that my surprise is that they are very expensive around 1 and 20 euros which is quite expensive to the currency from where I'm from so I decide to investigate more and that's when I found JG percussion JG percussion is a small American company which is based in San Diego California specializing in timpani mallets that are completely handcrafted it has different options and series ranging from wood carbon fiber and of course bamboo an enhanced several of the main timpanist as artists from the US and all over the world from David Herbert from Chicago Symphony [Music] Joseph Pereira from Los Angeles Philharmonic [Music] basically it's about creating space whether it's dynamically physical space Michael of the Ragnar of German and Austria and the list goes on recently I've been playing with these mallets and then you send me the new series that had just come out which is called jg berlin series or mallet inspired by the tradition of german craftsmanship with a romantic sound and perfect balance we are proud to pretend to jg berlin series each pair is handmade with layers of karke yarn and felt for a super warm sound each pair is created from hand selected bamboo and the highest quality natural felt bamboo shaft which is very light to play very balancing and nice in construction the engraving has this little minimalistic font with the traditional jg percussion love it comes with green color grips which give an identity to all of his mallets taken six different types or pairs which can be identified but a little yarn color and by the size of the tip ball felt DB one red and mint is a extra small core with a single back of your mom felt agile and quick great for chamber orchestra to be too red and yellow is a small cord with a single back of your mom felt full and bald with a punchy sound the b3 red and orange is a medium-large color with the two layers of German felt great for general playing with a warm and clear sound the before is red and light blue is a medium large core with two layers of your mom felt this stick has endless possibilities for sound the b5 is red royal blue is large core with two layers of your mum felt big and dear and great for low register to be six red-violet is a extra-large core with three layers of German thought for the largest moment in the repertory here is a sound test that you can hear the sound out of the stick [Music] [Music] [Music] okay there are some issues to a point that are more into the material of the stick maybe you have tried bamboo maybe you don't but bamboo is a more delicate material of course more delicate than carbon fiber [Music] so you have to avoid extreme weather also is light but more team and if you are more into an American tradition than German you can check out some of the other series like carbon fiber or Hickory please leave me in the comments you wanna see a review for that in general if you're looking for a professional grade mallets with a full tone and at the same time punch and color but an affordable price of around 100 US dollars these mallets can work for you so I'm going to leave the link below and the principal page of JJ percussion also you can find them at the Steve vice.com Lone Star percussion calm in the US and overseas at music house Taman okay thank you so much for watching if you like this video please give me a thumbs up and subscribe to my channel see you later
