How to use hammer tackers to attach paper to waterproof wood walls

howdy guys, Kirk and Jason here with Kirk Giordano
plastering, its the end of the day we're in Contra   Costa, we started off about a hundred degrees
got about 107, and now it's finally cooling off,   it's about 90. I love the hot weather, anyway
today I want to talk about these hammer tackers,   Only because about 15 people called me. They email
me and see all the videos we have which is over 700 and they say hey Kirk, what kind of, they ask
me all kind of questions, the last one was what   kind of hammer tacker do you use? People call
These all kind of weird names, slam-bang, but it's a   hammer tacker guys, because they got the hammer in
the effect they like for paper your hammering and that   attaches the paper well.

All you folks just say
what kind do you use? You know arrows been making   them forever these guys here are Arrows they got
all kinds of fancy types of hammer tackers, in fact   I bought one time a few years ago and it had a razor
blade for cutting, it had a TV, at the end of the   day, I chucked it in the garbage. Even though I paid
60 bucks for it. Just that useless these guys right   here these arrows there are some of the best.
It's got a chamber here you pull it up open here,   and it takes two loads what does that mean? like
like the Uzi gun you put one load in, you put your   second load in and it should take two, unless
you've got the few jammed in there, goes   so that's a lot of staples, you, you can you could
use these guys to attach your carpets, roofing, you   name it I've seen guys do upholstery with them, you
can do all kinds of stuff with these arrow tackers   and they come in all kinds of sizes for lathing
guys, get the three-eighths that's a 10 millimeter   anything bigger like the 12 millimeters, is too
big too long, and the six millimeters too short,   So it's like the three bear story goes with the one
in the middle, ten millimeters these guys right here   we buy, by the case.

Obviously big cases
of them, you can buy these little guys too for   you homeowners. Where guys like us, Jay and me and
the rest of the guys, we keep an about, O'ooo about   six or seven of these guys are in the truck all the
time. I generally put my name on all my tools, not   because I think anybody's gonna steal them, but
because sometimes we leave them on the job and   somebody would call, and say hey Kirk, I found this hammer
tacker, it's got your name on it is it yours? That's   why we mark all of our stuff, anyhow I wanted
to show you guys what we do.

Okay, you put your   paper up there and you, you tack down your paper
can you do the wire, like here's this wire is loose?   It's hanging all over the place, can you do the wire?
I sometimes will I'll attach it and what I'm doing   is I'm attaching it through this skinny wire where
it's overlapped right here, where it's intertwined   it sometimes jacks up, jacks up your keys in here
or if you hit this metal. There's metal here this   is a weep screed. if you hit this metal and you
hear that, you do that five times and these are no   longer any good guys, so keep the hammer
tackers up and keep them, four inches above   just like that, of what you'll generally do guys
hitting Jason and I, about six months ago he went   a fella emailed me a picture, it was a big wall it
was twice the size of this gable we got out there   and I said dude how come you didn't staple it?
He says well I did staple it, I said where? What,   what he meant was he stapled it with these,
the hammer tacker staples.

I said man, that's, that's   Okay to attach paper but you could, you could
attach the wire temporarily until you bring   out the big gun. But you have to staple it and yeah
anyway it was a funny story because it says well I   saw you doing it, and I thought, you might have saw
me holding this up, but you're going to attach wire   a little hammer tacker staples aren't gonna do it,
and by the way, they work the same as these little   guys here for practical purposes, any way you guys
asked me about those hammer tackers, I'm showing   you everything I know about them.

Here's how we
attach the wire seven-eighths of the staple has   to go into the stud, and always wear your glasses
guys we're getting ready to call it a day, because   there's no way we're gonna finish this and it's
getting dark, and we're tired, anyway just thought   I'd answer that question since you guys asked me
a lot of good questions and sometimes simple stuff   such as these, but since we use them now for 30
