Makita Hammer Drill Repair – Replacing the Change Lever (Makita Part # 419250-0)

"The change lever attaches to the switch. It allows you to reverse the direction your
drill rotates. The most common problem with the change lever
is accidental damage, often caused by something hitting it. Replacing the change levers repair that you
can do yourself, and I'm going to show you how. Hi, I'm Mark Sodja. Do-it-yourself repairs like these are easier
than you might think. From lawn machines to cordless drills, kitchen
mixers, outdoor drills, our how-to videos walk you through each repair from start to
finish, so doing it yourself means never having to do it alone. Let's get started. I'll begin by removing one half of
the housing. Now, I have access to the change lever. I'll lift the switch away from the housing,
so I can remove the change lever. Now, I can install the new change lever. You'll notice it's hollow on the underside,
I want to make sure that's pointing down towards the battery.

I'll align the change lever with the tab on
the switch, and then, place this assembly back into the housing. Now, I can reinstall the housing. That's all it takes to replace the change
lever on your cordless drill. Be sure to check back often for new videos
and expert advice. If you found this video helpful, give us a
thumbs up and leave a comment.".
