Hi folks, nice of you to turn it on. I have a problem, maybe you also have the problem. I have a chisel, but no clever mallet or wooden hammer.
That's why we're building a mallet today. If you want to see how I do it, stay tuned, after the intro it starts. We have here a piece of solid wood and a piece of an old curtain rod which I still had over.
I've already cut a 30-centimeter piece. ..and.. let's start making something nice out of it. So now we're gonna turn this log into a hammerhead. Now we have the rough head, now we still do the finish. Now we have cut the block together so far, and we make a hole with a 25mm Forstner drill. So the hole is drilled so far, now let's do the handle. Let's get to the handle, to mark your middle on the handle, you can either use such a middle finder or if you don't have one like me, you can simply use an alternative 45 degree normal angle and a second ruler.
And then you can also mark it differently. And that's what I'm showing you now. Simply set the angle to it. And at this 45 degree nose you then set the ruler. Hold on to this and then you do a few strokes all around. And so you have also found your center. Now let's drill a hole in there and you'll see what it's for.
As you can see, just because you're drawing straight doesn't mean you're drilling straight. Unfortunately it went a bit wrong. Now I have made a second piece again. Let's put the tension on and then we'll have a look. I guess that's an imbalance you can work with. Since we drilled a hole in our piece of wood with a 25mm Forstner drill and the curtain rod is here 28mm, we now have to bring it to measure.I simply cut myself into the size of the wooden block, a sandpaper. And then we sand it down. The head and the handle are finished, now let's see if the whole thing fits together. It sits very tight, but before we do this together, we do here, a slot in, later for the wedge. It's a great match. So the hammer is finished. functional check Would say it works.
